Post Secondary Education

·             Continue to enhance the development of a comprehensive university with freshman through senior classes plus post graduate programs.

·             Use Florida Atlantic University's and Indian River Community College's academic programs, technology programs, adult education and job training programs to provide life-long learning opportunities.

 K-12 Education

Curriculum

·              Maintain discipline and provide a safe environment for all students.

·              Make each school a center of excellence.

·              Expect each student to achieve a globally competitive education.

·              Provide the basic curriculum of reading, writing, and arithmetic for all students.

·              Provide a competitive work force through the Tech Prep and DCT Programs.

·              Provide globally competitive technology, equipment, support, and training.

·             Develop the curriculum employers require for graduates to obtain and be successful in entry level jobs.

·              Provide a magnet school for every child at all age levels.

·             Provide creative performance incentives for students.

 

School Management

·            Provide school based management with an advisory board for each school.

·            Maintain stability and continuity in school assignment for family members.

·            Increase the utilization of existing education facilities.

·            Provide an adequate number of education facilities.

·            Create facilities for after school studies and research.

 

 Community Involvement

·            Expect and encourage parents to be responsible for their children.

·             Develop a positive attitude toward the school system among St. Lucie County residents resulting in every citizen of the County being a positive sales force for the school system.

·             Commit the financing and human resources of the school system and business community to make this education VISION reality.

·             Involve parents in the education of their children through use of technology.

·             Encourage the business community to provide parents with time off for involvement in the school system.

·            Expect students to come to school ready to learn.

·            Involve parents in the school system.

·            Expand the mentoring program.

·             Use the schools in each neighborhood as a community resource.

·             Establish a format for private sector input.
