And if the journey were a simple one, all we would have to do is
follow the familiar signs. Except that these signs only tell us the distance
and direction to travel. The one answer they can not give is the most vital
of all:
How do we get there?
We-along with our children-will arrive there only through a
common effort. A shared experience. A joining together of energies. Of
wills. And of resources.
For without that bonding of purpose, our journey may never be
completed-no matter how good or well-meaning our intentions.
If we knit together all of the diverse threads that make up
our community, we stand a chance of producing a fabric that will wear well
in the new century.
But before we can even begin this journey, there is something
we need from you in return. A response that tells us we are on the right
road. Without that, we cannot even take the first step.
For having told you what we believe to be important, we need
to know what you think is important.
On the card to the right, please check those three
ingredients of our community life that you believe to be top priority.
By doing this, you'll be taking the first vital step forward.
It should take just under sixty seconds. On the other hand, it will take
Greenville half a generation to fulfill our promise-to complete the journey.
We think it's a fair trade-off.
Please .... give us a sign.
