VISION
Metro Augusta education systems will prepare our citizens to compete in
the 21st century global economy.
Strategies
K-12 Education Systems
- Produce 5
a functionally literate work force that meets the needs of the Metro
Augusta work place and provides competitive advantage in the technology
oriented global market place. A seamless school-to-work transition by
providing the opportunity for students to prepare for one
of three areas: college prep, tech prep or apprenticeship. Assist
young people in understanding the work place and determine their
opportunities in the job market.
- Use criterion based instruction.
- Explore potential new delivery systems that are mastery based,
self paced, and highly interactive.
- Utilize computer driven integrated systems.
- Increase openness and responsiveness of the
education system.
- Expect and allow teachers to teach.
- Expect graduates to be proficient in English and at least one
foreign language.
- Expect a disciplined and safe environment in schools.
Opportunity
- Ensure fairness in the delivery of quality education to all
students.
- Expect all children to start school ready to learn.
- Access national and regional resources.
Community Input
- Increase parental involvement to improve the education systems.
- Create an education system that communicates and cooperates
through a strategic alliance between all the components of the system.
- Expect a continuous and sustained effort by local government to
make this education VISION reality.
- Commit to a sustained business involvement in education.
5 The Task Force participants voted by ballot to
establish priority for the strategies within the six foundation areas. The
highest priority strategies are arranged in order within each foundation
or subsection and indicated by bold type.
