1994-2001 Facilitation in Hampton Roads

Hampton Roads is the brand name for the Norfolk MSA

May 1994 Facilitated a City and County Managers retreat with the 15 Virginia MSA communities to initiate the process of getting the public sector involved in helping implement Hampton Roads Plan 2007.

October 1994 Facilitated all day workshop attended by all 15 community’s managers and mayors. The key decision was made to work with the private sector to implement Plan 2007. This resulted in meetings leading to the organizational meeting of the Hampton Roads Partnership May 15, 1996. http://www.hrp.org/

1995-1996 Facilitated a Strategic Plan for Forward Hampton Roads, the economic development marketing entity for Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and Suffolk. These five communities had a population of about one million people of the 1.5 million MSA. On July 1, 1997, a public-private alliance was created, the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance (HREDA). The public sector of the five communities invested $1 per capita per year for five years. The private sector matched this with $1 million per year for five years. The annual marketing budget was increased from $450,000 to $2 million.  http://www.hreda.com/
