JACKSONVILLE, FL-“Development
of Northeast Florida without regard to political subdivision and under a
single name” was a strategy in the Jacksonville 2005-A Regional Vision-facilitated
in early 1983. http://www.lukevision.com/jacksonville_vision_1983.htm
The November 6,
2002 Times Union describes how the name “Florida’s First Coast” was
selected by year-end 1983 and its success over nearly 20 years. “Nearly
800 business places and organizations in Northeast Florida have adopted
the name. But maybe more importantly, the region has adopted the
name and made it a permanent Florida fixture."

GWINNETT, GA-In
1987-1998, Gwinnett County made a decision where to locate the new

select in the I-85 Corridor and the center opened in 1992. The
center has been expanded and in February 2003, a brand-new arena will be
home to Gwinnett’s two new professional sporting teams- The Georgia Force
Arena Football Team and the Gwinnett Gladiators, Atlanta’s new minor
league hockey team. Involvement from residents and developers will
help drive the plan for this area to be the heart of Gwinnett.
